เป็นเรื่องเป็นราวอีกแล้วสำหรับท่าเต้นของเกม Fortnite ที่กลายเป็นประเด็นดราม่าอีกครั้ง

Ana Coto แดนเซอร์ นักแสดง และนักเล่นโรลเลอร์สเกตที่โด่งดังโลกโซเชียล TikTok ได้ทวงถาม Epic Games หลังจากเกม Fortnite แอบนำท่าเต้นของเธอไปใช้ในเกมโดยไม่ได้รับอนุญาต

เมื่อไม่นานมานี้ Epic Games ได้มีการประกาศอัปเดตเตรียมเพิ่มท่าเต้นใหม่เรียกว่า "Freewheelin Dance" ในเกม Fortnite ซึ่งท่า Emote ดังกล่าวได้มาจากการซื้อด้วยเงินจริงผ่านร้าน Microtransactions

แต่หลังจากการประกาศเตรียมอัปเดตไปได้ไม่นาน Ana Coto ก็ได้แท็กถามหาทีมงาน Fortnite ผ่านช่องทาง Instagram ทันที พร้อมระบุแคปชันว่า "ฉันปลื้ม (ท่าเต้นในเกม) นะ แต่ไหนล่ะเครดิตของฉัน ?" หรือหมายความว่า Fortnite ได้นำท่าเต้นของเธอไปใช้ในเกมโดยไม่ได้ขออนุญาตจากเธอ

ท่าเต้น Freewheelin Dance ของ Fortnite มาจากวิดีโอของ Coto ที่มีชื่อว่า 'Jenny From The Block' ซึ่งอัปโหลดผ่านแพลตฟอร์ม TikTok โดยในคลิปมีเนื้อหาที่เธอเล่นโรลเลอร์สเกต และเต้นพร้อมกับ Jennifer Lopez จนกลายเป็นไวรัลโด่งดังทั่วโลกในปี 2020

Fortnite มักจะถูกฟ้องร้องจากเหล่าบุคคลที่มีชื่อเสียง เพราะนำท่าเต้นไปใช้ในเกมโดยไม่ขออนุญาตเจ้าของท่าเต้นอยู่เสมอ โดยเคสฟ้องร้องที่โด่งดังสุดคือ Alfonso Ribeiro ที่ยื่นฟ้อง Epic Games เพราะนำท่าเต้นของเขาไปลงในเกมโดยไม่ได้ขออนุญาต แต่เคสดังกล่าวได้ถูกยกฟ้อง เนื่องจากศาลมองเห็นว่าเป็นท่าเต้นที่ “ง่ายจนเกินไป” และไม่สามารถฟ้องร้องด้านลิขสิทธิ์ได้
