จากรายการพอดแคสท์ Triple Click ของ Jason Schreier มีการระบุว่า Final Fantasy XVI นั้น เริ่มพัฒนากันมาตั้งแต่ 4 ปีก่อนแล้ว และความคืบหน้าของเกมตอนนี้ก็มาไกลเกินกว่าที่ทุกคนคิดไว้มาก

ข้อมูลนอกเหนือจากนี้ยังไม่มีการเปิดเผยอะไรมาก นอกจากมันอาจจะเปิดตัวในปี 2021 หรือ 2022 เป็นอย่างช้าที่สุด และข้อมูลตัวเกมน่าจะตามออกมาหลังจากนี้ด้วย
