Phobia là hội chứng ám ảnh, sợ hãi một điều gì đó. Có rất nhiều loại phobia, đôi khi mình nghe họ nói nhiều mà mình cứ bị lộn, không nhớ và không hiểu ý. Mình tổng hợp lại một số phổ biến nhá.

1. Acrophobia (fear of heights): sợ độ cao
2. Astraphobia (fear of thunder and lightning): sợ sấm chớp
3. Claustrophobia (fear of small/enclosed spaces): sợ không gian kín
4. Entomophobia (fear of insects): sợ côn trùng
5. Social Phobia (social anxiety disorder): nỗi sợ về xã hội, các mối quan hệ giao tiếp, tương tác
6. Glossophobia (fear of public speaking): sợ nói trước đám đông
7. Autophobia (fear of being alone): sợ một mình, cô đơn
8. Cynophobia (fear of dogs): sợ chó
9. Mysophobia (fear of germ/dirt): sợ vi khuẩn, sợ bẩn,...
10. Hemophobia (fear of blood): sợ máu

Mình thì có "ornithophobia", nỗi sợ chim mãnh liệt và phi lý từ hồi bé.

I’d like to share with you something i have been keeping to myself for a while now. I couldn’t share it before because we were imprisoned by the politics of fear. Activist, politicians and businessmen who were not in line with the ruling party’s ideology were threatened and pushed to a corner.

This is about Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

He was among the first persons that came to the aid of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when Tan Sri was punished for speaking truth to power.

He was once again a hero when AirAsia offered discounted flights and added flights during the election period. This infuriated some people in DS Najib’s circle. It became worse when DS Shafie’s (WARISAN) team uploaded a poster thanking this move as it meant that more WARISAN supporters can fly back home to vote.

It didn’t stop there. He refused to fire Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz after she spoke openly against Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak despite being pressured to do so.

He remained vigilant.

Those actions came with a cost and he has to pay for it.

He was pushed to a corner where he had to openly declare his support for the then ruling government. He had to take a video and his staffs had to change their uniforms. Pictures of the whole event were taken without the right context.

Please Malaysia, don’t label him as a pengkhianat.
.
.
This story is based on my own personal knowledge. TS Tony has helped us from the start, but can’t disclose it to the public due to the fear of repression. I leave it to the Malaysian people to judge.

But what I can promise you is this.. the start of this new era will ensure that your right to openly criticise the government will be guaranteed. You can openly endorse opposition parties without the fear of being persecuted.

We want a strong opposition. So businessmen, feel free to support any sides. We are now living in a new Malaysia.

STATEMENT

I express my deepest regret concerning Lancôme’s two separate announcements on June 5, 2016, first to draw a line between me and the brand, then abruptly cancelling the upcoming musical performance for "safety reasons". These statements both seriously misled the public and jeopardized my personal reputation.

This is not only about me. This is about those who believe in freedom, justice and equality. This is about those precious universal values that every individual yearn for. This is about what kind of a world we want to live in. It is unjust when people have to be punished for speaking out, standing up and seeking for these rights we consider to be basic human rights. When a global brand like Lancôme has to kneel down to a bullying hegemony, we must face the problem seriously as the world’s values have been seriously twisted. Individuals, corporations, and society all become victims, everyone is deeply and gravely affected.

I say this with respect, but corporations do have social responsibility in addition to pursuing profits. My engagement with Lancôme was meant to be a pure artistic collaboration in music. However, the engagement was rudely cancelled unilaterally, with awkward and ambiguous reasons that enraged many of us. To my understanding, the decision was pressured by the brand’s headquarters in France, and if this is in fact true, I feel it deserves an explanation. I hereby urge them to clarify on the decision, to clear my name and give the public a reasonable explanation.

Should we stop self-censoring out of fear and start respecting ourselves and others based on good honest work---we could all be freer. This is what my statement is about. It is about freedom and justice. Because the reality is that if we opt to stay mute and do nothing, these would all be stripped away from us before we notice.

J’exprime mes profonds regrets au sujet de la publication par Lancôme, le 5 juin 2016, de deux communiqués distincts, l’un établissant une nette séparation entre la marque et moi, l’autre annulant de façon abrupte une représentation musicale à venir, « pour des raisons de sécurité ». Ces communiqués ont tous deux sérieusement induit le public en erreur et mis en péril ma réputation.

Mais je ne suis pas la seule en cause. Il s’agit de tous ceux qui croient en la liberté, en la justice et en l’égalité. Il s’agit de ces valeurs universelles si précieuses auxquelles chaque individu est en droit d’aspirer. Il s’agit de savoir dans quel monde nous voulons vivre. Il n’est pas juste d’être puni pour avoir pris la parole, pour avoir tenu tête, pour s’être mis en quête de ces droits que nous considérons comme des droits de l’homme essentiels. Quand une marque mondiale comme Lancôme en est réduite à s’agenouiller devant un pouvoir hégémonique et intimidant, nous devons affronter le problème en face car cela signifie que les valeurs universelles ont été gravement dénaturées. Les individus, les entreprises et la société en sont tous victimes. Cela affecte chacun d’une manière profonde et grave.

Je dis cela respectueusement : en plus de réaliser des profits, les entreprises ont une responsabilité sociale. Mon engagement avec Lancôme était de nature purement musicale. Toutefois, cette coopération a été rompue brutalement et de manière unilatérale, en invoquant des raisons étranges et ambiguës qui ont enragé nombre d’entre nous. D’après ce que j’ai compris, la décision a été prise à la demande de la maison-mère de la marque, en France, et si cela est vrai, il me semble que cela mérite une explication. Je demande donc à cette dernière d’apporter un éclairage sur cette décision, de restaurer ma réputation et de fournir au public une explication raisonnable.

Si nous cessons de nous auto-censurer sous l'effet de la peur, et si nous commençons à nous respecter nous-mêmes et à respecter les autres sur la base d’un travail honnête, alors nous pourrons tous être plus libres. Voilà l’esprit de cette déclaration. C’est une question de liberté et de justice. Car la réalité est que si nous ne faisons rien, si nous ne disons rien, celles-ci nous seront arrachées avant même que nous le remarquions.
