【馬死落地行】
In my wildest dream, I would be a fashion vlogger on Youtube, with impeccable make up, stylist outfits, great cameras, beautiful lighting equipment and talking about adapting runway styles for daily style, serving my female audience.
Reality?
Today, I uploaded a video that I broadcast on Facebook Live a year ago. Shot on a iPhone 6 front camera, potrait mode no less.
Talking about...toads. #癩蛤蟆
When life gives you lemons...
Shifu said I look sickly. Bad choice to stand beside a window of harsh lighting.
This was my 2nd Facebook Live. (I have done over 50 so far) You can hear me mispronounce some words. You can see me tripping over my lines. I was less confident in front of the camera than now.
I wanted to remake this video. But the husband Joseph Ng said my Facebook profile had always been about journeying through the ups and downs of my life, how I made the best of whatever that was handed to me and how my attitude towards Destiny motivates others to overcome difficult times too...
He thinks it's a bad idea if I just fill my Youtube channel with swanky confident videos.
Supposedly it is more interesting to see a Youtuber growing through the years and sift gold in old videos.
I don't remember the husband following any Youtuber. I am unsure if his words can be trusted.
Best way to know the answer is for myself to go through this YouTube journey.
Like what I always advised my clients:
You may not see the wisdom in my words right now, when it is not in sync with what you want for yourself. But if you do what I say, I can guarantee you that your situation will definitely improve.
I have to walk the talk.
In Cantonese, we have a saying that says:
馬死落地行
Once upon a time, a man rode a horse out from his home. Unfortunately the horse died halfway. The man, at his wits' end, had to get off the horse and walked the remaining of his journey.
「没有了优势、靠山、可以依靠的工具,就只能踏实地靠自己,一步步前进。」
When you have lost ALL your support, advantages, strong backing and any tool that could have propel you to success, you can only fall back on yourself.
With your own capabilities, you move forward one step at a time. #IcanIwill
Just don't stay still and waste too much time thinking.
This is how I felt when I tread onto the unfamiliar YouTube terrain, with 10 subbies from my Facebook friends.
🙏
I must get this project rolling before the Dog year comes barking in.
I like to end every year, having tried something new and get positive results from it.
2016 was workshops, long content writing and FB Lives.
2017 is my year of YouTube videos. I have produced 10 videos this year. Mostly on Shifu's channel.
I wonder how long it will take to reach 100 subscribers. I didn't want to do a divination to find out. 我要靠實力取勝。
#competitivewithmyself
The direction is right and that's all that matters.
This video almost didn't make it to my selection. I didn't like the angle it was shot. I am unsure how to make a portrait video look nicer.
Just one of the numerous reasons I could have thrown this video into the trash bin.
But I know the knowledge in it will serve someone. So let's drop the excuses.
If there's something you have been dying to do before 2017 is gone forever, I hope my story can spur you on.
3 weeks. And this is my best effort as of now.
I salute all my videographer friends... 🙇🏻♀️
Subtitling in dual languages took 14 hours.
Holy broccoli. Why do I talk so much...
Not all my Lives are in Mandarin. Most are in English. So if you prefer English videos, there will be more coming up.
In any case, if you don't find the content useful, you have my kind permission to laugh at the stuttering me in my old videos. Anything to make you happy this Thursday midnight.
#有緣好過沒緣 #有view好過沒view
All credit to me sloughing so hard, if you like this video.
If not, blame the 👉 husband 👈 . 😁
Please subscribe to my Youtube channel for new videos! If you have any suggestions, please comment below.
While I may not have the tech savviness to implement them right away, you bet I will keep them in mind to further improve my videos. *wink*
