KOLEJ UNIVERSITI POLY-TECH MARA (KUPTM) STUDENTS TO HOST TANAH AIRKU CAMPAIGN MAIN EVENT VIRTUALLY
A virtual event promoting Tourism Industry in Malaysia.
A group of second-year degree students from Kolej Universiti PolyTech Mara (KUPTM) will be conducting Tanah Airku Campaign’s main event on 12th of September 2020, featuring a speaker from Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia’s celebrity chef, Chef Zam and famous online food reviewers from @destinasitv The event will be conducted virtually via Instagram Live from Tanah Airku’s official account (@tanahairku.kuptm) from 11am till 5pm.
The campaign encourages Malaysians to travel within the domestic borders by promoting tourist attraction and interesting food that can be found in Malaysia simultaneously reminding Malaysians to obey the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) when travelling. The objective of this campaign is to promote domestic tourism to help restore the economy in Malaysia after the impact of Covid-19. To expand the knowledge of our audience, daily postings on Tanah Airku’s official Instagram (@tanahairku.kuptm) and Facebook (@tanahairku) recommending places to visit has been carried out since July.
Besides that, a Tik Tok Competition has been organised to get the participation of Malaysian youth to document their travel in the most creative way as possible. Amazing prizes awaits the top three winners of the competition. Travelogues of food, places and activities are also made by the students to promote the various wonders that Malaysia offers. The campaign will end with a main event.
The event comprises four slots with the first slot being a talk called “Cakap-Cakap Malaysia” with Encik Iskandar Mirza, the Senior Director Corporate Communication of Tourism Malaysia to impart the importance of domestic tourism to revive the economy from 11am till 12.15pm. Next will be a food review, “Jalan-Jalan Review Makanan” by Amal Hasnor and Azry Bom from Destinasi TV to promote the delicacies that can be found in Malaysia from 12.30pm till 1.30pm. Thirdly, a cooking demo by @Chef_Zam which is called “Masak-Masak” from 1.45pm till 2.45pm. The last slot would be the announcement of Tik Tok competition winners 🇲🇾👍🌟

【大馬口罩】(長文慎入)
今時今日,我還經常會聽到身邊有香港朋友,會「馬拉」前「馬拉」後,言談間有意無意地,暗裡恥笑馬來西亞這國家,比起香港是如何「鄉下」。
昨天我又聽到一次。
但我想大家看看以下這篇新聞,馬來西亞政府在2019年9月已經嚴格規定,幾款民用口罩的價格,禁止坊間炒賣。https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2019/09/18/haze-govt-sets-ceiling-prices-for-face-masks
疫情進一步爆發,馬來西亞政府更加明文規定,凡被抬高價格出售口罩者,一經檢控,可被判入獄三年及罰款10萬馬幣。
反觀香港政府,依然是一貫佛系,而囤積了大量口罩的商人或政客,亦成為了這一次口罩慌的大贏家。
農曆年期間我回大馬過年,有朋友托我幫他買N95口罩,我當初不以為意,只買了他叫我買的份量,連自己都沒有買。
年假接近尾聲,年初二,又有朋友追加托我買N95口罩,於是,我又到家附近的Caring藥房(大馬的萬寧)入貨,但這一次,卻沒這麼幸運。
藥房職員說,有遊客(她只說是拿著行李箱的Tourist,沒有講明國籍),一口氣把所有口罩都買光了),但因為農曆年假關係,未能及時返貨,職員叫我們不用擔心,待農曆年假完結,應該會回復供應的。
買不買到口罩,我和太太都不太緊張,但我太太的家人卻比我們著緊,上機前,有位親戚把自己平時留在家守門口的廿多個口罩,都給了我們。
因為我是馬來西亞人女婿關係,近來經常有朋友向我打聽如何申請大馬的第二家園計劃,但言談間發現,他們最有興趣移居大馬的原因,還不外乎因為覺得大馬什麼東西都便宜過人,可以過來這邊做富豪。
當然,每個國家的政府和社會,都有各自的問題,馬來西亞也不例外。
但我想說的是,如果有一天我真的會移居一個國家,我先會考慮那個地方的人民質素普遍是如何,客觀的生活環境又是如何。
我經常和朋友說,馬來西亞的華人社會,有點像我們70、80年代的香港,大部份人都未那麼富裕,但大部份人都生活得相對簡單自在,在某些地區,甚至乎是有點單純。
每次回大馬,我最喜歡到他們類似大排檔或熟食中心的地方吃東西,幾乎每一次,人多找不到位的時候,都一定會有快要吃完的朋友,向我招手,示意叫我坐下。
政府不可靠,唯有自救,這一刻香港人焦慮的精神狀態,雖然說是可以理解的,但當看見大家還在慌張地搶廁紙搶米,我卻又覺得,這個一直自誇是亞洲國際都會的城市,除了少部分人囤積了的財富和口罩,究竟還剩下了什麼?

The Tsukiji Market (築地市場 Tsukiji shijō), supervised by the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market (東京都中央卸売市場 Tōkyō-to Chūō Oroshiuri Shijō) of the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Industrial and Labor Affairs, is the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and also one of the largest wholesale food markets of any kind.
The market is located in Tsukiji in central Tokyo, between the Sumida River and the upmarket Ginza shopping district. While the inner wholesale market has restricted access to visitors, the outer retail market, restaurants and associated restaurant supply stores remain a major tourist attraction for both domestic and overseas visitors.
The market handles more than 400 different types of seafood from cheap seaweed to the most expensive caviar, and from tiny sardines to 300 kg tuna and controversial whale species. Overall, more than 700,000 metric tons of seafood are handled every year at the three seafood markets in Tokyo, with a total value in excess of 600 billion yen (approximately 5.9 billion US dollars on November 24, 2013). The number of registered employees as of 25 January 2010 varies from 60,000 to 65,000, including wholesalers, accountants, auctioneers, company officials, and distributors.
The market opens most mornings (except Sundays, holidays and some Wednesdays) at 3:00 a.m. with the arrival of the products by ship, truck and plane from all over the world. Particularly impressive is the unloading of tons of frozen tuna. The auction houses (wholesalers known in Japanese as oroshi gyōsha) then estimate the value and prepare the incoming products for the auctions. The buyers (licensed to participate in the auctions) also inspect the fish to estimate which fish they would like to bid for and at which price.
The auctions start around 5:20 a.m. Bidding can only be done by licensed participants. These bidders include intermediate wholesalers (nakaoroshi gyōsha) who operate stalls in the marketplace and other licensed buyers who are agents for restaurants, food processing companies, and large retailers.
The auctions usually end around 10:00 a.m. Afterward, the purchased fish is either loaded onto trucks to be shipped to the next destination or on small carts and moved to the many shops inside the market. There the shop owners cut and prepare the products for retail. In case of large fish, for example tuna and swordfish, cutting and preparation is elaborate. Frozen tuna and swordfish are often cut with large band saws, and fresh tuna is carved with extremely long knives.
The Tsukiji fish market occupies valuable real estate close to the center of the city. Former Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara repeatedly called for moving the market to Toyosu, Koto. The long-anticipated move to the new market will take place in November 2016, in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Street Food in Vietnam is best eaten in cooler places like Da Lat. There's no other place to go at night than the Da Lat Night Market. Many vendors sell clothes and gifts to bring home, but this primary local Vietnamese domestic tourism place also offers a slew of delicious food to try. The first thing worth trying is called banh tieu with soy milk, mung bean milk, and artichoke tea. Everything was so cheap for less than a few dollars, you get a warm drink to wash down delicious pastries. Next, aside from chicken porridge and bbq meat, I recommend eating shellfish. Remember, the nearest beach is quite far away, thus shellfish or oc is quite a premium up here. You can expect to pay 50,000 Dong or so per plate, which is really only a dollar or so more than Saigon prices. I tried a different kind of oc for the first time. Lastly, dessert in the form of da hu duong or sweet soft tofu with ginger is a must. I love this dish. It's my favorite dessert and eating warm tofu on a cold night is absolutely rewarding. I really enjoyed it. Ngoc and I took some banh trang nuon to go as well. The night market closes late on weekends, but earlier on weekdays, so keep that in mind.
