The Academy Awards, now officially called The Oscars, are a set of awards given annually for excellence of cinematic achievements. The 85th Academy Awards are held on February 25, 2013 at the Dolby Theatre.
學院獎，現在正式更名為奧斯卡獎，是一系列表彰傑出之電影的年度獎項。第85屆學院獎頒獎典禮在2013年2月24日杜比劇院舉行。
Origin of the name "The Oscars."
The root of the name "Oscar" is contested. One popular claim is that of the Academy’s Executive Secretary, Margaret Herrick, seeing the award in 1931, said the statuette reminded her of her Uncle Oscar. Columnist Sidney Skolsky then used this name in a subsequent article. In 1939, the Academy recognized the term and officially began using it.
名稱由來
奧斯卡小金人最早曾被稱作「學院獎雕像」、「金獎盃」等，但奧斯卡這一名稱卻更為常用，而這一名稱的由來，至今也沒有一個準確的說法。一個比較流行的說法是：學院的首席秘書瑪格麗特·赫麗克（Margaret Herrick）女士在看見小金人後驚異的說：「這真像我的叔叔奧斯卡！」這之後，學會內的人員都開始以奧斯卡來作為小金人的暱稱。1934年的第六屆頒獎典禮後，好萊塢的專欄作家西德尼·斯科爾斯基（Sidney Skolsky）在他的文章中第一次公開使用了奧斯卡這個稱謂。1939年，學會最終認可了奧斯卡這個名字，並且開始正式的使用它。
