The semiconductor industry is at the center of the U.S.-Taiwan economic partnership. “The semiconductor industry has never been more strategic or held the attention of senior leaders as much as it does today. The Semiconductor industry therefore has a special responsibility to adopt an ethical approach to the design, manufacture, packaging, and testing of equipment that will enable a clean 5G infrastructure and secure supply chains for other types of equipment. The United States federal government continues to enact policies, such as export controls rules and the Clean Network to strengthen the competitiveness of the global semiconductor industry and to ensure fair trade. The United States, along with Taiwan and other like-minded partners, will also continue to promote the protection of intellectual property rights and trade secrets,” AIT Director W. Brent Christensen said at the opening ceremony of SEMICON Taiwan on September 23, highlighting the pivotal roles of U.S. and Taiwan companies’ in the global semiconductor industry.
