Message from U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Michael Heath on U.S. Vaccine Donation
As the US embassy announced yesterday, we are proud to be donating safe and effective vaccines to Thailand without conditions. It is part of the Biden administration’s commitment to help our allies fight COVID. This donation marks another important milestone in our bilateral relationship and is a visible symbol of our long-standing alliance.
The United States is proud to help Thailand fight the pandemic. I would like to recognize the effort of Thailand’s medical personnel, nurses, and health volunteers in curbing the outbreak.
Let me be clear, this is the government-to-government agreement. There is no intermediary in the conversation. The White House, the State Department and the embassy are working directly with the MFA and the MOPH on this donation.
We are working very hard to get safe and effective vaccines to the Thai people.
I look forward to sharing good news with you soon. Americans will always stand side-by-side with Thais.
DYAM Tunku Mahkota Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Pemangku Raja berangkat meninjau kawasan kebakaran hutan di Kampung Pekajang, Jalan Tanjung Kupang, Iskandar Puteri pada 26 Ogos 2019.
DYAM Pemangku Raja telah diberikan taklimat perkembangan terkini operasi pemadaman api oleh Pengarah Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Johor, Datuk Yahaya Madis. Pemangku Raja turut melakukan lawatan ke SMK Tanjung Adang dimana ia terletak berhampiran dengan kawasan kebakaran dan menitahkan sekolah tersebut ditutup sementara demi kesihatan para pelajar.
Kebakaran hutan tersebut telah merebak sehingga membabitkan seluas 98 hektar dipercayai akibat dari cuaca panas dan kering yang melanda negeri ini. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

HRH Tunku Mahkota Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Regent of Johor inspected the forest fire in Kampung Pekajang, Jalan Tanjung Kupang, Iskandar Puteri on 26 August 2019.
HRH Regent of Johor was briefed on the latest development of fire fighting efforts by Johor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Yahaya Madis. The Regent of Johor also visited SMK Tanjung Adang, which is located close to the area on fire and decreed that the school be temporarily closed for the sake of students' health.
The forest fire had spread to 98 hectares of land due to the hot and dry season affecting the state. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

BACKGROUND
A German-flagged container ship headed straight towards shore and briefly ran aground in Hong Kong on Sunday afternoon (April 6, 2014).
The 192.5-meter-long Hansa Constitution was travelling along the busy East Lamma shipping channel when it suddenly veered off course.
The Hong Kong Marine Department said the ship's main engine broke down.
People familiar with the shipping industry say the captain and Hong Kong maritime authorities decided to the best course of action was to beach the vessel to prevent it from colliding with other ships on the busy shipping channel.
The crew dropped anchor at the last minute, making loud screeching noises, to slow Hansa Constitution as it headed straight towards the sea wall outside the University of Hong Kong sports grounds in Pok Fu Lam.
The ship ground to a halt at around 15.22 local. It then slowly reversed, as Marine, police and fire services rushed to the site. It was eventually towed free. No one was injured.
The ship was travelling from Yokohama in Japan to Chiwan port in Shenzhen, China.

熟悉船務的人表示船長應是故意把船開離繁忙航道, 避免在停頓前撞倒其他船隻. 船後來被拖走.

"Bangladesh, February 7th, 2016. The director of the Bangladesh Central Bank got off the elevator on the ninth floor, and headed to the back office of the Accounts and Budgeting Department. This was the most restricted part of the building. He was there to deal with a problem,m one that had been plaguing the office the last few days. You see, the printer wasn’t working, and this was kind of a big deal. It was causing a real disruption. The automated printer, which was hooked up to the bank’s software, was supposed to work round the clock 24/7, printing out the bank’s transaction reports in real-time. Due to this technical glitch however, the printer tray remained empty. Much of the day was spent trying to fix the issue;,and after a great deal of effort there was success. They were able to restart the printer. And so the backlog of transaction reports started rolling out, one by one. Now, it soon became apparent that something wasn’t quite right. There were more statements than expected..."

An estimated 70,000 children are kidnapped in China every year, although the Chinese government reported fewer than 10,000 kidnappings. According to the United States Department of State, estimates are closer to 20,000.
Some children are reported to have been sold into adoption overseas. The adoption agencies of China receive considerable donations from foreign parents when they adopt, sometimes as much as $5,000; such agencies have been known to purchase children from human traffickers, although such cases are usually rare.
