【本研社有戲睇】7月27日晚，居港逾15年的加拿大老師Tavis du Preez (杜比) 將於本研社工作室，放映Noam Chomsky的《美國夢的安魂曲》（《Requiem for the American Dream》）。電影是Noam Chomsky的詳細訪問，由美國立國基礎，講到美國夢之死，討論權力跟財富高度集中的十大原則。映後將設討論環節，參照美國的情況，係威權壓頂之際思考香港前路！

An avid supporter of community initiatives and of dialogue, Tavis du Preez (杜比) has made Hong Kong his home for fifteen years since moving from Canada in early 2003. A teacher, brewer and father of three, Tavis lives on Lamma Island where he enjoys walking his dog in the hills, gardening and being part of a vibrant local community. Having once run as a candidate for the Green Party in a Canadian provincial election, Tavis has maintained a deep interest in politics, economics and in bringing about a healthy, just society.
While this documentary deals specifically with the American political and economic milieu, it is believed that the lessons learned from this study of elite power strategies bear significant relevance to the understanding of the strategies through which elites maintain and expand their wealth / power the world over - Hong Kong included.
It is hoped that in the dialogue following the screening, that we may tease out some of these connections, highlighting the commonalities and differences of our local situation here in HK. It is further hoped that we may discover corresponding strategies aimed at empowering working people and communities in the face of this top down assault upon our collective well-being.
