Happy International Dentist’s Day! 🥳🦷Let’s talk Fluorosis.

Little back story about this case, patient was concerned about the white spots of his teeth and was about to go for fake veneers at a beautician in Malacca. A day before his “appointment”, he went on YouTube to do some research and found a video of mine explaining about the dangers of fake veneers. He immediately cancelled the appointment and....this is the story of how we met! (Till this day I still find it amazing that I get to connect with new people through this way!😆🤩)

Now, let’s get real.
In this case (which does NOT require veneer), icon resin infiltration has been done for this patient 2 weeks after his in-office dental whitening. Composite fillings were done for the cavitated lesions and caries after the resin infiltration as well. Conservative Dentistry is always my go-to when it comes to treatment plans.🤗

Now, how does the white spots appear?
Fluorosis are also commonly known as “white spots” on teeth. It can also appear as brown spots or mixed-coloured spots on your teeth. It is typically generalised (found on not only one but a good few tooth), and is caused by excessive fluoride ingestion at young age. (Don’t swallow your toothpaste when you’re a kid guys.) Common treatments include:
- Dental Whitening
- Microabrasion
- Resin infiltration
- Fillings/ Veneers/ other forms of Restorative treatments

Braces (Orthodontics) gave her a perfect alignment, now…what’s next? 🤔 Veneers for her dream smile!😁

To achieve this result:
Laser Gingivectomy • Smile Design • In-Office Whitening • Composite Veneers

After her orthodontic (braces) treatment, patient wanted a fuller and brighter smile. Given that she’s a happy-go-lucky girl who love laughing (and also a singer who’s super talented), we first balanced her gum line (gingival height) with laser gingivectomy.

With the proper amount of tooth exposed, we then did a digital smile design for her. We wanted to try a cute bunny smile look but after a smile try-in we’ve decided to stick to this look.😝

2 weeks after in-office dental whitening, we then proceed with 8-units composite veneers with injection molding technique with @gc_malaysia G-aenial Universal Injectable Composite (Shade BW) and touch ups with @dental2u composite instruments.

Happy to see her flashing that beautiful smile in her pictures, now she has a smile as bright as her personality!😁 Dentistry is so much fun ain’t it?🤩

Sometimes, it’s the little things that matter.🦷😁

Free-hand composite buildup was done on the central incisors of this patient to reduce the Incisal embrasures. @3moralcaremalaysia A3 Enamel composite works wonders.

Build up was first done on 11 with my fav “jelly bean” matrix. 😆 It’s important to keep the midline in control so you don’t overbuild to the adjacent and cry internally as you remove the excess.
Mylar strip technique is then used for the 21 build up to ensure proper contact is restored.

Small changes like this give a better overall appearance and look at her happy smile in the post-op pic! Makes me so happy too! 😍🦷
