The Firefox smartphone is out and selling in Spain starting today for about $90.
Earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, I spoke to Mozilla Chair Mitchell Baker about the Firefox OS.
Baker says Mozilla's hope is to bring the integration of the Web and apps to everyone. But the market priority for the Firefox OS is the developing world.
"The biggest unmet need is in the emerging market where millions, billions (potentially) of people will be coming to the Internet from a feature phone for the first time ever," she told me.
"So when they come to the Internet, we want them to have a beautiful experience -- elegant, affordable -- and also to have access to the content and experiences of the past decade."
*I admire that design ethos. Offering affordable access to the Internet without stripping away the Net's key experiences.*
