(Eng Below)
Strangers!
1. You have only 1-2 shots! (best case, you might get 3!)
2. Do not lose sight of your camera
3. Other tourists also need photos!
4. Your stranger-photographer might end up being your friend of the day

Being a Solo-Traveler, who took my photos?
Is one of the most frequently asked questions as people saw me uploading my own photos without using the selfie stick! So who took these photos?
The Answer is : Strangers!!
Some people are shy to ask others, especially, strangers…. But oh well, if you don’t ask, you don’t have photos of yourself while solo travelling ☺ It’s worth the memory!!
(This album contains photos from the stranger-photograper)
Here are some challenges and key findings of “asking strangers to take a photo for you”
1. You have only 1-2 shots! (Best case, you might get 3!)
Mostly when you hand your camera to a total stranger, you will get 1-2 photos only.
That’s mean before you ask someone to take photos for you, be sure you have the pose you will do on your mind, as well as, the composition. Once you are ready, take a snap of the ideal photo you want, politely show it as reference to the stranger that you want this composition and background and SNAP!!
2. Do not lose sight of your camera
Try to evaluate your complete stranger-photographer to make sure that he/she is someone you can hand your camera to, frankly, someone who isn't going to run away with your camera. However, I cannot say you can be 100% sure if the person is trustable, so I mostly trust my own instinct.
When you find your photographer, do not forget no.1, think of the pose idea before the shooting, so that you won’t be struggling to find the perfect posture and lose your sight of your camera.
There are times when I want some candid shots as well hahahaha, how? This I have to find someone who I think would be safe for me to turn away and let him/her handle the camera. Once I let the museum’s staff took the photo behind me.
3. Other travellers also need photos!
What often happened were other travelleres seeing me holding my camera so then would ask me to take a photo for them. It always comes with a chance for me to ask them back.
4. Your stranger-photographer might end up being your friend of the day
Many times asking a complete stranger to take a photo for you is a beginning of something else. “Are you travelling alone?” “Where are you from?” etc. It is a beginning of a short conversation that might give you a new friend.
Friends from different generation. Friends from different culture.
Once I was sitting on a bench with this aged English man. In front of us was a lake in Milan. I eventually asked him to take a photo of me by the river and that’s the beginning of a warmth conversation. He told me about his trip, his wife and how they would always come there every year.
Various kind of people I talked to: American family, Korean girl, girls from Australia, Italian guy who owns an Antique shop, Italian doctor, A guy from Slovenia, a couple from China, and the tour guides.
These moments sometime lead to dining table where we would continue the conversation during meal ☺
Though traveling alone, you won’t get as many photos as if you were traveling with friends, but traveling alone gives you something new, something unexpected!
*Remark, some of the photos are good and some are very funny, such as the last photo hahahahaha

Spent three productive days here in New Zealand. Enjoyed catching up with many Singaporeans living and studying in Auckland, learning about their lives here, and sharing news and memories of home. Then met old friends Philip Burdon (Chairman, Asia:NZ Foundation) and Don McKinnon (former NZ Deputy Prime Minister) who have done much for Singapore-NZ relations, at dinner hosted by the Asia:NZ Foundation. Also met two young New Zealanders who studied at NUS on Asia:NZ Foundation scholarships: Tessa McGregor (civil engineering) and Robina Ang (bio-engineering). Both enjoyed their time in Singapore and have built life-long friendships.
Yesterday, I called on PM John Key in Wellington, as well as Governor-General Terry Mateparae. Both not only lived several years in Singapore, but have a child each born in Singapore too! Also learnt much about Maori culture and history at the Te Papa Tongarewa, the national museum of New Zealand.
Today I wrapped up my visit with a tour of our Navy frigate the RSS Stalwart that is in harbour in Wellington. The weather was chilly, but we had a warm time on board, meeting the crew, plus other Singaporeans living here who were also visiting the ship. The Stalwart is mid-way through RSN’s longest naval deployment this year. I wish the ship and crew all the best for their voyage and exercises. They return to Singapore in November.
I am next heading to Australia, and will have more to post then. - LHL

MATOU
It has direct meanings like “to wear, put on, tangle, roll up,” and it is often used figuratively.
I put on my body.
I can not see all of my body for a lifetime.
Tissues make up my body are kept being renewed, and they will vanish someday.
The body without contents will not remain, and where the contents without the body go?
Will they keep remaining?
Like Snakes and cicadas, most parts of their outer layer of the skin slough off at once and become new.
Although what is left is not a dead body, it still has a perfect shape of the animal and it has no life. Is it an evidence of its life? Is there an evidence of my life?
‘Matou’ also sounds like “willing to wait” in Japanese.
I’m waiting for my death.
‘Tsukimatou’ means “to haunt.”
It always haunt me and don’t go. My body haunt me until the day I die.
‘Soumatou’ revolving lantern
An expression describes an occurrence that many visions appear in one’s mind as shadow cast by a revolving lantern. It happens when people have a brush with death and past memories come and go randomly and quickly.
‘Mattou’ means “to complete.”
I completed my life.
