At today's Kennedy Center #ArtsAcrossAmerica gathering, I remembered something Fred Rogers said that has really stuck with me: “If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
The people I meet in communities around the world – like those I had the pleasure of spending time with today in Braddock, PA, near Mr. Rogers' hometown – leave little bits of themselves with me wherever I go, and I hope that something of what we talk about also stays with them. How fitting that the new Mr. Rogers documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? is out in theaters today...a wonderful way to celebrate his life and work!
