#FBLIVE: PM Lee delivering his speech at the SUTD Ministerial Forum.
PM paid tribute to SUTD Founding President Professor Thomas Magnati. He also talked about Singapore being a nation by design, and how design was applied to core elements of our nation-building, such as defence, jobs and economy, housing, water sufficiency, and public transport. What we now call “design thinking” was applied to these multi-level issues, which goes beyond the hardware aspects of engineering and architecture, but also has to amalgamate the software of socio-political elements, and what it means for the people and society.

Thank you bro Radzi Tajuddin! Jalan Tegak!

3 reasons why you must visit Machu Picchu at least once in your lifetime (save for later!)
☀️ The architecture
The engineering is simply stunning. The Incas mastered the technique called ashlar where blocks of stone are cut to fit together tightly without mortar. The stones are so tightly fit you can’t even fit a blade between them.
☀️ The sights
At a dizzying 2,430 meters above sea-level, the view from Machu Picchu on a clear day is breathtaking.
☀️ The Incas
While admiring the site, you’re also marvelling at the brilliance of the Incas and their culture. At its height, the remarkable empire extended from Peru to Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and parts of Colombia. Their profound impact is found all over Peru and other parts of South America.

Video Title: Why Japan's Great Pyramid of Giza Can't be Built Until 2110
"London. October, 1992. A Japanese man entered a government building near Chancery Lane, and made his way up to an office on the first floor. This was the London branch of the UK’s Patent Office. You see, this man was there on behalf of Japan’s renowned Shimizu Corporation - a leading architectural and engineering firm that was (and is) among the top in the world, and he was there to apply for a patent. To secure their ideas globally it was necessary to apply not just in Japan. Now this particular patent was for no ordinary idea. It was for something grand, something spectacular. The idea was to build giant pyramids in the middle of some of the largest and busiest urban centers in the world - starting with Tokyo. These infrastructures would be so large, they could house entire cities. But why? What was this for? And who exactly is the Shimizu Corporation? To understand this, we need to go back in time, back over 200 years ago to the company’s inception..."

Video Title: How to Build an Undersea Tunnel from Japan to Korea
"In 1917, a Japanese Army general by the name of Kuniaki Koiso, wanted to connect Japan to the rest of Asia. He suggested the idea of building a grand tunnel from Japan all the way to Korea. Certainly a tremendous feat of engineering, and not just for that point in time. Over the next hundred years, through the various incarnations, and despite the numerous proposals, the project never moved beyond conception. Today, there’s still yet to be a tunnel or bridge connecting the two countries. But the question is, for how long?..."
