July 4 Night: #AmericaDayHomerun is a celebration of both America’s birthday and the U.S.-Taiwan shared love of baseball! Tonight, AIT provided an opportunity for Taiwan friends to experience some American baseball traditions, including a special rendition of the United States’ national anthem, video highlights featuring MLB players from Taiwan, a ceremonial pitch featuring Wang Chien-ming, Kuo Hong-chih and Liu Po-chun, mascots running competitions, MLB style cheerleading, and distribution of 1000 special edition t-shirts! AIT was honored to have many prominent Taiwan friends join us for this unprecedented celebration. Curious about today’s activities? Want to know who participated in this event? ⚾️美國國慶日首次移師台灣棒球場！一起慶祝 #美國日紅不讓！⚾️

「我看到什麼就判什麼。」劉柏君是台灣第一位棒球女主審，也是2019年國際奧會女性與運動獎得主，和2017年美國國務院「全球運動導師計畫」成員，她也在2018年被富比⼠雜誌評選為「全球體壇最具影響⼒女性」第⼗九名。作為棒球場上女性的先鋒和榜樣，劉柏君表示她的信念就是永不放棄追求所愛，並堅持到底。除了擔任主審之外，劉柏君也致力於培力年輕女性，幫助她們充分發揮潛力，拿回人生的主導權。

⚾️Let's celebrate #AmericaDayHomerun at Tainan Baseball Stadium on July 4!⚾️

"I call what I saw,” said Liu Po-Chun, who is Taiwan’s first female umpire for men’s baseball and the winner of the World Trophy from the IOC’s Women and Sports Awards. She is AIT’s nominee for the 2017 Global Sports Mentoring Program and was ranked the 19th among 25 in Forbes inaugural list “the Most Powerful Women in International Sports” in 2018. As a pioneering role model for women who strive to win recognition in the baseball, Liu, Po-Chun said her belief is to never give up on what you love and stick to the end. In addition to her umpire role, Liu, Po-Chun keeps working on empowering girls and young women to help them realize their full potential and take charge of their lives.
