2021年奧斯卡的報名資格已經放寬為原本預定要上戲院但因為疫情而被迫在網路首映的電影也可以符合報名資格，《漢米爾頓》也確實原本排定檔期要上映，最後在疫情中直接上架Disney+。問題是美國影藝學院已經明文排除「劇場演出錄影」的電影報名奧斯卡。

好消息是該片應該有機會報名資格比較寬鬆的艾美獎。


那些已經被串流扭轉的遊戲規則

奧斯卡要不要接受是一回事，但串流產業已經默默地改變了許多好萊塢的日常運作規則。

七月底之前暫時還沒有任何暑假檔好萊塢大片上映。另外一部不起眼的Netflix波蘭色情電影《365 Days 禁室365天》卻悄悄在網路上爆紅。該片不僅極可能是六月份整個Netflix上最受歡迎的電影，透過Netflix病毒行銷的推波助瀾，hashtag #365Days 早在三月就成了TikTok國際版抖音上熱門關鍵字，相關影片合計已經有15億的觀賞人次。

好萊塢的暑假例行公事原本是爭相投入數以千萬（美元）計的行銷費用購買各種鋪天蓋地的媒體廣告來將消費者強行推至票口。但Netflix向來更專注在神不知鬼不覺的網路行銷，來讓節目上架之前成為網路話題甚至網路迷因（還記得《Bird Box蒙上你的眼》？）。就算未來電影院能活著回來，暑假檔繼續存在，Netflix在夏天的角色將越來越重要，他們的網路行銷方式也將在暑假檔越來越有存在感。

另外一個被串流和疫情改變的遊戲規則是試片：

就像其他產業一樣，好萊塢會把產品拿出來做焦點團體訪談來測試消費者的反應。過去擔心內容外流的風險而使片廠不敢做線上試片，但疫情使這些試片活動仍然不得不轉到線上。實體試片活動的問題是成本高、樣本少。此外串流大戰促使內容產品多元化，使用演算法的推薦影片功能也讓非主流產品慢慢建立自己的利基市場，但焦點團體經常難以精準鎖定這些特定族群的反應。

如今已經出現多家科技新創專門協助片廠做線上版試片，甚至用攝影機分析同意參與試片者的即時臉部表情，用以測量他們對特定橋段的反應。這些線上工具的成本相較於租用試片室和補貼交通費、誤餐費等等麻煩的做法，大大降低了焦點團體訪談的成本，讓片廠可以用更少的經費取得更多的樣本，因而得到更精確的數據。

至於上架之後的數據監測則是另一門新的科學。

Nielsen的收視率調查曾經統治整個世界，但串流時代徹底讓他們廢了武功。其中一個主要因素是Netflix始終不願意揭露數據，永遠只在慶功時揭露標準不一的片面有利資訊。

一家新創公司Parrot Analytics認為他們找到了串流時代如何判斷一個節目是否叫座的公式：他們將使用者的各種行為參數放進公式裡，用以評估這個節目到底多吸引觀眾。這些被他們放進去的使用者行為不只包含觀看節目，還包含Google搜尋、Facebook按讚、Wikipedia流量以及盜版下載次數等指標。比如他們監測到《The Witcher 獵魔士》的受歡迎程度是其他節目平均值的57倍，也符合後來Netflix公佈說該節目是該台有史以來最受歡迎的第一季節目。

Netflix始終拒絕分享數據的其中一個理由是確保他們的合約談判優勢，因為劇組人員永遠不會知道自己的節目到底多叫座。因Netflix爆紅的脫口秀演員黃艾莉就抱怨Netflix迄今仍拒絕告訴她節目的收視數據。Parrot Analytics則打算用每月59美元的服務費來解決這種的資訊落差。


羅琳性別小教室引發關於審查不同意見的辯論

J.K. Rowling的「性別(偏見)小教室」本週再度開張：

Rowling日前再度對跨性別人士的人生出手表示意見。她批評經常用來提供給跨性別者或非性別二元者的賀爾蒙治療藥物以及性別轉換治療是一種「懶惰」的治療方式，質疑醫療專業者為什麼不認真地治癒他們的「心靈」，而寧願選擇用藥。她甚至將賀爾蒙療法和教會長期推動、惡名昭彰的「同性戀轉化療法」相提並論，認為這些都是下下之策的糟糕治療，因為都會導致年輕人喪失生育力或是性功能。

能夠讓這個世界更好的性別觀點很容易取得，就不在這裡複述。

有趣的進展是就在Rowling的謬論發表一天後，包含Rowling本人、《The Satanic Verses 魔鬼詩篇》作者Salman Rushdie和《The Handmaid's Tale 使女的故事》作者Margaret Atwood 等150名作家、藝術家和學者突然發表了公開信呼籲包容不同意見，拒絕言論審查的社會氣氛。

這封刊登在Harper雜誌上的公開信，譴責無所不在的言論審查社會氣氛，讓整個社會對不同意見缺乏包容性，並不斷在辯論中對持非主流意見公開羞辱甚至實施放逐。「打倒壞點子的方法是曝光它、討論它、說服它，而不是試圖摀住它或是祈求它趕快消失」信中說。

但也有被要求連署但拒絕的歷史學者Kerri Greenidge公開表達她不認為真的有這種威脅存在。她說在歷經多少世紀的學術壓迫歷史之後，要求任何人在寫作或發言時考量種族主義和白人至上主義威脅一點都不過份。

此外《使女的故事》作者Margaret Atwood似乎覺得需要講清楚她是反對審查不同意見，而非支持Rowling的個人觀點，所以在連署公開信的同時，她特定在自己的Twiter上轉貼一篇關於跨性別研究的文章，同時強調所有人都應該尊重性別多元的無限光譜。

最後再次重申，我一點都沒有很想一再散播J.K. Rowling「性別小教室」的各種觀點，但就像那封公開信說的：曝光它、討論它、說服它。

「放下它」暫不在選項之中，阿彌陀佛。
