แม้ว่าปี 2020 ภาพยนตร์จะหายจากตารางฉายไปแทบทั้งหมด แต่บรรดาหนังดีก็ไม่ได้ลาโรงไปทั้งหมด หลายเรื่องย้ายไปลงสตรีมมิ่งดังอย่าง Netflix ภาพยนตร์ที่โดดเด่นที่สุดในปีนี้คงหนีไม่พ้นหนังสาวมั่นล้างแค้นชายชั่ว Promising Young Woman ที่มาแรงแซงทางโค้งในนาทีสุดท้าย และแมทช์ชิงรางวัลครั้งสำคัญระหว่างดูโอผู้กำกับและนักเขียนบท David Fincher จาก Mank และ Aaron Sorkins จาก The Trial of the Chicago 7
