已故的馬侃參議員，是美國受到景仰的政治家，一生都在為民主自由奮鬥，並為了提升台灣的安全而努力不懈。馬侃參議員是我的老朋友，也是台灣的好朋友。這個獎項，是國際社會對台灣民主的重要肯定。
　　
團結的台灣，必將堅定守護民主、持續做好防疫，成為有能力貢獻全世界的良善力量。我們將會一再證明：民主和自由，就是台灣立足世界的最好獎章！
　　
Thank you to the Halifax International Security Forum for the honour of being awarded the John McCain Prize for Leadership in Public Service. However, this award does not belong to me alone, but to all the people of Taiwan.
　　
The late John McCain was widely respected US senator. He spent his life fighting for freedom and democracy, and was committed to ensuring Taiwan’s security. Senator McCain was an old friend of mine and a true friend to Taiwan. This award, named in his memory, is a symbol of the high regard the international community has for Taiwan’s democracy.
　　
A united Taiwan must remain dedicated to protecting our democracy and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, while working as a force for good to make the world a better place. We continue to show that freedom and democracy are the core values that define our country.

【超重要！哈利法克斯國際安全論壇即將來台舉辦】

外交部誠摯歡迎 #哈利法克斯國際安全論壇（Halifax Security Forum, HFX）宣布明年1/21 - 1/23與 財團法人國防安全研究院合作舉辦 「哈利法克斯：台北論壇」(HFX TAIPEI)！！！

大約在兩個月前，HFX 也宣布 #蔡英文總統 為年度 #馬侃公共事務領袖獎章（John McCain Prize for Leadership in Public Service）得主，蔡總統也表示這份榮耀並非專屬她個人，而是「屬於全體台灣人民的榮耀」。

HFX是匯集全球民主國家討論安全議題及強化戰略合作的重要國際盛會，在國際安全領域，HFX就像是奧林匹克般的存在，每年的11月舉辦年會，邀請各國政府及軍事官員、學者，匯集世界多國的代表。而這次將在台灣舉辦冬季論壇(小編覺得就好像國際安全領域的冬季奧運)，是HFX主辦單位首度移師亞洲舉辦的大型研討會。

HFX主席普拉格（Peter Van Praagh）表示：「HFX將在台北舉辦具有里程碑意義的國際安全論壇，慶祝亞洲最具活力的民主國家之一的勇氣和成就。」

他還說：「所有重視民主的人都會立刻認識到此時聲援台灣人民的重要性。」

外交部會跟HFX及國防安全研究院等單位密切合作，促使活動順利成功舉辦，以利與理念相近夥伴與國際友人共同捍衛自由民主價值。

The organization previously awarded President Tsai Ing-wen the John McCain Prize for Leadership in Public Service in May, recognizing Taiwan's achievements in containing the COVID-19 pandemic and safeguarding democracy.

曾在2019年頒發給追求自由民主的香港人民的 #馬侃公共事務領袖獎章（John McCain Prize for Leadership in Public Service），今年由 #哈利法克斯國際安全論壇（Halifax Security Forum, HFX）宣布 #蔡英文總統 為年度得主。外交部歡迎HFX論壇的決定，並對國際間各界友人的支持表達誠摯感謝。

在武漢肺炎疫情與中國軍事威脅不斷進逼之下，蔡總統堅定捍衛 #自由 #民主價值，獲得國際社會的尊敬與肯定，蔡總統也表示這份榮耀並非專屬她個人，而是「屬於全體台灣人民的榮耀。」

#民主自由 就是台灣立足世界的最好獎章，而台灣的 #防疫成功也證明團結的台灣，是有能力貢獻全世界的良善力量。台灣會持續與共享民主、自由、人權價值等理念相近國家，深化合作夥伴關係，同時替國際的民主自由做出最大貢獻，並堅定成為世界的正面良善力量。

「馬侃公共事務領袖獎章」是紀念已故美國聯邦參議員馬侃（John McCain）堅定追求自由、平等、機會與民主價值而設立。
