However their 2016 platform affirms the #SixAssurances given to Taiwan in 1982 and the #TaiwanRelationsAct and refers to the values of #democracy, #HumanRights, a #FreeMarket economy, and the #RuleOfLaw that we share with the US. MOFA would like to thank the #US on behalf of the government and the people of our country for their bipartisan support for #Taiwan ahead of this year’s presidential election.

The #US Democratic Party party platform, passed at the 2020 Democratic National Convention last week, contains Taiwan-friendly phrasing once again: "Democrats are committed to the Taiwan Relations Act and will continue to support a peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues consistent with the wishes and best interests of the people of Taiwan."

The GOP convention held earlier this week did not introduce a new party platform.
