[英語知識] New Year's Resolution 新年決心
因此,在這裡提供一些方法來協助同學們實踐自己的新年目標 (fulfill their New Year’s resolutions)。
===== How to Fulfill Your New Year Resolutions =====
Set a Realistic Target!
Set a Timetable
先釐清目標和夢想的區別在哪裡 (know the difference between goals and dreams)?
Find Resources!
Constantly Remind Yourself!
Find Like-minded Partners!
Reward Yourself!
Never Give Up!
不過不須感到緊張,因為實現新年決心的承諾並非事關成敗 (whether you fulfill your resolution isn't crucial) 。
===== Popular New Year's Resolutions =====
✎ Improve physical well-being: eat healthy food, lose weight, exercise more, eat better, drink less alcohol, quit smoking, and get rid of old bad habits
✎ Improve mental well-being: think positive, laugh more often, enjoy life

Part 2

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangyuan_(food)
Are they really the same thing?
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Normally, tangyuan is considered a traditional food in South China, and the latter in North China. The round shape of tangyuan is created by hand. You shape the rice flour dough into balls, create an indentation in the dough, add the filling, then close it up and smooth out the dumpling by rolling it between hands. Nowadays, different types of tangyuan come in rainbow-like colors.
9. shape (v.)
10. shape …into… 把…
11. indentation
12. dough
13. add the filling
14. rainbow-like colors
★★★★★★★★★★★★
Though yuanxiao are also round, the shape is not made by hand. The fillings are pressed into hardened cores, dipped lightly in water and rolled in a flat basket containing dry glutinous rice flour. A layer of the flour sticks to the filling, which is then again dipped in water and rolled a second time in the rice flour. And so it goes, like rolling a snowball, until the dumpling is the desired size.
15. be pressed into…
16. hardened core
17. dip in 浸入
18. dry glutinous rice flour
19. rolling a snowball
20. the desired size

Feb 3rd, 2020
Setsubun (節分) is the day before the beginning of spring in Japan. The name literally means 'seasonal division', but usually the term refers to the spring Setsubun, properly called Risshun (立春) celebrated yearly on February 3 as part of the Spring Festival (春祭, haru matsuri). In its association with the Lunar New Year, spring Setsubun can be and was previously thought of as a sort of New Year's Eve, and so was accompanied by a special ritual to cleanse away all the evil of the former year and drive away disease-bringing evil spirits for the year to come. This special ritual is called mamemaki (豆撒き, "bean scattering"). Setsubun has its origins in tsuina (追儺), a Chinese custom introduced to Japan in the eighth century.
It is customary in Kansai area to eat uncut makizushi called ehō-maki (恵方巻, lit "lucky direction roll"), a type of futomaki (太巻, "thick, large or fat rolls"), in silence on Setsubun while facing the year's lucky compass direction, determined by the zodiac symbol of that year. This custom started in Osaka, but in recent years eho-maki can be purchased at stores in the Kanto area and it is getting more recognized as a part of Setsubun tradition.
